The programme was presented by Johnnie Walker and saw him visit Los Angeles to interview legendary session guitar player Carol Kaye.
Although her name may be unfamiliar, we learnt through the programme that she had taken part in some 10,000 recording sessions and has worked with artists from Sam Cooke, to the Beach Boys to Glen Campbell. She is one of the most recorded musicians of all time and has made a massive contribution to popular music. This programme on BBC Radio 2 was an opportunity to celebrate a great female guitar player and to give Carol the long overdue public recognition she so richly deserves.
The programme was warmly received by listeners as well as BBC Radio 2 and generated a large amount of press and publicity.
