MuxCo was the Folder team’s first project – with new local commercial multiplexes being advertised by Ofcom, could we form consortia to bid for, and win these licences?
Each MuxCo multiplex was designed to have participation from the operators of the small radio stations in each market, whilst capacity would be offered to the larger heritage station.
The idea was successful with 12 of the 15 multiplexes won by MuxCo consortia.
MuxCo Ltd is now a joint-venture with Arqiva. It has shareholdings in the local multiplex companies which now have a variety of joint-venture partners including Bauer, Nation Radio, Dee Radio Group, Murfin Media and Triple Media.
Folder Media manages the day-to-day operations of the MuxCo multiplex network. It also manages two multiplexes operated by Nation Radio, also branded, under licence, under the MuxCo banner.
